Once I got into the fitting rooms, those took me an hour or two to finalize. Even the gold ring was an easy decision. What weighed on me most, though, is the fragrance I’ll wear that day.Some context: You see “groom,” you think “wedding.” I see “groom,” I think “fragrance, shave, hair, skin, breath, B.O…”. That’s my nature as a career men’s grooming journalist. And it explains why choosing a wedding day scent is such a big decision: I own many hundreds of scents; quadruple that if you count all the sample vials I have stowed under my desk. I already have my go-to signature scents, and a seasonal scent wardrobe that changes with the weather. There are about 60 that I keep “at the ready” between me and my partner at any given moment; they’re great decor on the bookshelf, too.But when I embarked on the quest of finding the perfect wedding-day scent, I knew I wanted something tied specifically to that day. In other words, what I was looking for wasn’t going to get a ton of mileage, but it would be especially meaningful.
